Holidays In Spain, An Experience Not To Be Missed.

For me, holidays in Spain were one way to improve my Spanish. One of the most influencial immersion methods and one of the most memorable. So much so that after frequent visits I am seriously considering going to live there.

Andalucia, Spain

My favourite part is Southern Spain..Andalucia, yes the part where they seem to not pronounce the end of most words. (Confusing at first but very endearing).

The region which has captured my heart is Costa Tropical. It has miles and miles of coastline with the most beautiful beaches sprinkled with the most charming of restaraunts serving mouth wateringly delicious authentic Spanish dishes.

If you are looking for a holiday in Spain with gorgeous weather, good food, a lot less tourism than you may be used to, outdoor activities in abundance and a heavy dose of history then you may just surprise yourself looking here. Just take a look at the streets in the old town of Salobrena. The streets here are filled with Spaniards who have lived there for generations and it is not uncommon to wake up to the sound of the staff from the local panaderia chatting to the locals, and of course with the smell of freshly baked bread wafting in the cool morning air.

salobrenaandalucia

The history of Andalucia takes us back to the Moors, Phoenicians and Arabs. There is evidence of ancient inhabitants everywhere. You will find an Arab Castle in Salobrena at the top of the old town with amazing views across the town. In the evening it is exceptionally spectacular, lit up and glorious. A museum is not far from the castle which exhibits photographa and artefacts from the early settlers in Salobrena and craftsmen can be seen working in house on pottery, souvenirs and much more.

For winter holidays in Spain there are the amazing ski slopes in the Nevada to which many Spaniards flock to.

Motril

The biggest town in the Costa Tropical is Motril, a thriving fishing and leisure port. It has two glorious beaches, a lively selection of bars, retaurants and nightclubs. For shopping in Motri there is a hypermarket just on the edge of the town, great for those taking holidays in Spain.

Almunecar

Amunecar, one of the oldest towns in the Costa Tropical is another consideration for holidays in Spain. It is becoming more and more popular with tourists and the Spaniards flocking to the coast. Here there is a vast choice of sporting activities, great for those of us with children! You will find horse riding, mountain biking, skiing in the mountains, golf and a fantastic water park.

For eating out and shopping Almunecar has everything you will need, even a well known small supermarket we have in Britain to find your favourite foods for you. Again bars and retaurants are a plenty to make those long summer nights one to remember.

Majorca

Of course there are many more beautiful parts of Spain to visit, I'm sure I will get around to seeing a lot more of them as time goes on. Another place I have visited is Majorca with its stunning architecture and wonderful beaches. If you are visiting then do check out Palma, it is a must!
