Kids Learning Styles

By being able to determine kids learning styles then you will be able to teach a child much more effectively. As with adults, kids get frustrated if they are trying to learn something new which doesn't connect with their unique learning style(s). We all learn in different ways at at a different pace therefore if you are teaching or learning alongside a little one then the experience will produce better results. Many parents follow the Multiple Intelligence theory (MI) when homeschooling their kids to produce outstanding results.

An Example of Kids Learning Styles

My own child, Lachlan displays various learning styles so I try to accomodate each one when teaching him Spanish. His prominent style is Musical, nearly everything he does he relates to music. If he is learning colours we will make up a silly song. If he is trying to remember something them he puts it to music so a lot of our learnng material is based on Spanish songs and rhymes. His other most prominent style is linguistic, he has a great memory, if I can't remember where a puzzle is on an interactive Spanish game then sure enough he will find it. Outdone by a 4 year old, mm! Before working on this site I had not really paid attention to kids learning styles but now I can fully appreciate the significance. Another thing I have noticed kids do is incorporate role play into their activities alone or with friends.
I'm not sure which kids learning style this fits into but it is worth exploiting when teaching them Spanish, I have been a Spanish alien, A Spanish spaceman and ghost to name a few. Always great fun!

Of course he does also show signs of other styles but pinpointing your kid's most comfortable style makes learning Spanish so much more fun and rewarding.

All children learn similar things but in different ways and the way the child learns is the learning style(s) he or she is most comfortable with.
