Spanish Numbers...Numbers In Spanish From 1-100

Spanish numbers form a crucial part of basic Spanish.  At first glimpse they can look complicated however when you understand their construction, they can be very easy to learn.

1-10

Ther are, as always in a foreign language rules to be aware of, with numbers in Spanish the number 1 (uno) does change depending on the gender of the noun.  If it is before a feminine noun then it loses the (o) from uno and becomes una.

If it is used before a masculine noun then it becomes un.

Examples

Una hermana....One sister

Un hermano......One brother

When countng generically the number 1 should be used in its natural form, ie uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, etc.......one, two, three, for, five etc

When counting specifically, ie,  counting a specific number of things then use the number specific to the noun such as una gata....one cat,

uno perro.... one dog, una casa....one house, un libro, one book.
