ComparingQuantum and Transformational Theories

Thequantum theory is derived from the physics concept of energy andmatter or quantum mechanics, while the transformational theory isbased on the idea that leaders should motivate followers to ensurethat tasks are performed. This paper will compare and contrast thetheory of quantum and transformational theory.

Thetheory of transformation and the quantum theory have three majorsimilarities. First, the two theories indicate a strong support forchange in the organization. The two theories support the type ofleadership that focuses on change or transformation as a way the mostappropriate way of achieving a better future. For example, thetransformational leadership theory holds that transformationalleaders should be willing to assume risks and follow a set ofconvictions and values in order to influence followers to takeactions and do things in a more effective way (Sahgal &amp Pathak,2009). The theory is derived from the term “transformation”,which implies that a transformation leader is always in the processof implementing change. The idea of change in Quantum theory isindicated by the principle of equilibrium and disequilibrium, whichholds that the world is in a constant change. Secondly, the twotheories uphold the elements of trust. An effective andtransformational leader should earn the trust of followers(McCleskey, 2014).

Third, the two theories emphasize on the significance of relationships. Forexample, the quantum theory holds that the universe and the humanbeings are intricately associated, while the transformational theorysupports the relation between the leader and followers. Fourth, principle of quantum theory is derived from the idea of systems thatare composed of different elements, while transformation theory isbased on the idea of individualistic consideration, wherebysatisfying the needs of individual followers results in thesatisfaction of the organization (Sahgal &amp Pathak, 2009).

Themain difference between the two theories is the fact that the quantumtheory focus on the mind and the spirit in analyzing and influencinghuman behavior (Dunbar &amp Winston, 2015). Transformational theorydoes not focus on these nom-tangible elements.

Thequantum and the transformational theories are similar in that theyemphasize on the idea of change, the element of trust, relationships, and components that form an entire system. However, the quantumtheory emphasizes on the non-tangible elements, unlike thetransformational theory.
