Theychose to become engineers because it is a profession, which has jobprogression. Opportunities in the engineering sector are not limited.As engineers, they would be able to work in various fields due totheir advance knowledge. In college, Jon, Chris and Jenifer`s careerchoice was influenced by their desire to work in a science andtechnology related field. Environment contributes to career choice inthat they wanted to improve the environment to make it conducive topeople`s health (Duncan, n.d. Prescott &amp Bogg, 2013). Theirpassion for the environment influenced the career choice in the sensethat each of them wanted to contribute in the management ofenvironment a conservancy.

Thedesire to make a difference contributed to the evolution and progressin their current jobs as engineers. Their point of view ofengineering was contrary to the monetary gain people often attach toengineering. They felt that as engineers they should make adifference in the world by integrating their knowledge and skills toimprove the environment.

Regardingwhy they joined the engineering profession, they were attracted bythe diverse nature of the job opportunity. Environmental engineeringdoes not limit an individual to a specific field of operation(Prescott &amp Bogg, 2013). The engineers are exposed to a varietyof opportunities. About their studying engineering again, Jon,Chris, and Jenifer would. This is because they feel thatenvironmental engineering does not limit them to a specified field ofoperation, and they have a passion for the profession. Studyingengineering enabled them to enter the profession of environmentalengineering due to the diversity of the engineering jobspecialization. They can work in different forms of engineeringfields, due to the variety of opportunities.
