TheEquality of Opportunity

Valuesare imperative for both individuals and a country as well becausethey define the owners from other people or characters. Values arecollective understanding of what a person or a group of peopleconsider being good and desirable. America as a country boasts of sixvalues that have for a longtime been integrating factorsfor quality citizenship (Maryanne,&nbspJoAnnand&nbspEdward,2015).In this work the equality of opportunity as one of the values hasbeen discussed in details to give its precise meaning. Equalityof opportunity offers three strategic components that are: offering achance to the people to explore their potential at their capacities, itdiscourages the formation of formal classes that would otherwiseresult in discrimination against on grounds of wealth status and theability to do things, itoffers the freedom of worship as long as one’s religion is notinterfering with other people’s affairs.

Equalityof opportunity offers a chance to the people to explore theirpotential at their capacities.Equality of opportunity for the Americans is the law against anydiscrimination in the social life regarding education, employment, housing, a person’s race religion and their condition. It appliesto everybody in America, whether the majority or the minoritygroup whether a person is an immigrantor one who has stayed there since birth. The value has for a longtime been meant to establisha sense of equal rights in the citizens’ hence foster togetherness. For example, many immigrants are forming part of the successfulpeople in America, a situation that could not have been so if theindigenous people were racists.

Anotherthing about equalityof opportunity is that it discourages the formation of formal classesthat would otherwise result in discrimination against on grounds ofwealth status and the ability to do things. This has resulted to the non-existence of dominantgroups to mistreat less fortunate people. For example, the immigrantsof the United States believe that everyone has an equal chance ofsucceeding in what they do and what can limit them is their effort todo so or inability. This has resulted in many people from variousparts of the world going to the US to get the good experience of realfreedom in everything.

Additionallyto equalityof opportunity, there is freedom of worship as long as one’sreligion is not interfering with other people’s affairs. In the religion realm, there is liberty to choose who to worship. Asan individual one is free to interact and worship from anywhere inthe country as long as their behaviors do not interfere with thepeace of others. Every person is entitled to an equal right to thefreedom of worship. Fair entitlement to worshipping has beensuppressed by mainstream religions. For instance, most Muslims whoare a minoritygroup are linked to terrorism and thus, this is a form of faithdiscrimination.

Inconclusion, the value of equality of opportunity is an important oneas discussed. It saves the country from discrimination in any aspectof life. It also discourages the formation of formal classes thatmight lead to the genesis of unfair treatment of others. The value aswell gives freedom of doing so many things that have resulted in thecitizens exploring their potential and improving the country as well.It is worth noting that the value of equality of opportunity hasgiven the Americans the chance to have their potential exploredthrough the freedoms provided by the value. The value has also madethe country to be a place of interest as well as the destination ofmany people all around the world.

Additionallyto equalityof opportunity, there is freedom of worship as long as one’sreligion is not interfering with other people’s affairs. In the political realm, there is liberty to choose who to believe interms of their political agenda. As an individual one is free tointeract and marry from anywhere in the country as long as theirbehaviors do not interfere with the peace of others. Success ineverything as a concept is the primary goal of the American peopleand this forms the ethical rule. To affect this, every citizen hasbeen granted equal opportunity to succeed in whatever they get toengage in doing. This results in a fair competition that leads towinners and the losers to have a duty to make another trial. Hence, life in America is seen as a race, and one`s efforts will determinehow far they will reach.
