Additionally,the paper will incorporate leader and follower behaviors and otherelements of the theory chosen. The paper outline chose theaction-observation-reflection model enhances leadership, which iscrucial in the societal development when the leaders apply differentset of experiences.
The Initial or New Experience: This subtopic is important in expounding the leadership research topic because it emphasizes on establishing new experiences during the process of establishing one`s ability to lead. The sub-topic will be based on Colin Powell`s spiral of experience example. Here, the subtopic will delve into new experiences about, not only what happens to a person, but also about how the person handles and perceives the new experiences. The initial or new experiences will also focus on its perception and how it affects the three phases that make up the leadership model action, observation, and reflection. Hughes (2015) noted that people actively construct and shape their initial experiences.
Reflection and observation: This sub-topic will look to connect the relationship between observation and reflection in leadership. The sub-topic is about handling emerging events around us. The sub-topic will be expounded based on Hughes`s (2015) stand that people are naturally selective in what they attend to what they, in turn, reflect. Reasons for choosing the sub-topic is that reflection sets tend to influence on individuals` senses. Therefore, the sub-topic will explain the people`s bias or tendency to perceive one particular thing and not the other. An individual`s perception, based on the sub-topic, is triggered by his or her feelings, prior experiences, needs, and expectations. Additionally, another reason for choosing the topic is because, in leadership, stereotypes are a representation of powerful impediments that require learning
Development of a New Concept: The sub-topic will focus on the new concept that determines leadership development. Hughes`s (2015) study on strategic planning will help with identifying certain projections that would contribute to a leader developing new concepts. The new concept, however, poses a risk factor for possible failure. In such a case, the sub-topic chosen will open up on proposing a strong incentive for any potential leader to learn.
Experimentation: This potential sub-topic will be based on topic`s leadership development and how it emerges from education and training. Experimentation is important because it will provide a correlation between people`s academic or education performance and future managerial and leadership success. The subtopic will allow a person to engage in taking risks through experiments to ascertain different leadership roles he or she can handle.
